IVAN MAXIMOV

Ivan Maximov was born in 1958 in Moscow, and studied physics before training in animation between 1986 and 1988. From 1987 he directed films for several different Moscow-based studios and since 1995 has worked independently on film, video and computer animation. He has also taught film directing since 2002 at VGIK and the studio-school Shar in Moscow.

In addition to to this, Maximov has worked as an illustrator for different newspapers and magazines and also created logos for businesses and festivals. His filmography includes 'Bolero' (1992), Golden Bear winner at Berlin '93, 'Wind Along the Coast', in competition at Annecy 2006, and 'Rain Down from Above', officially selected out of competition at Annecy 2008.

Ivan Maximov will be presenting a retrospective at this years festival.
