The competition for Nordic and Baltic animation films and the Golden Gunnar Award is the heart and soul of the festival. The preselections are organized in cooperation with the Nordic-Baltic student festival, Animation Volda. Fredrikstad Animation Festival is also one of only 9 Cartoon d´Or partner festivals and the winner of our Grand Prix will be nominated for the Cartoon d´Or Award 2010. The jury will also nominate a film to the ANOBA Award 2010.

We hand out 5 prizes in the following categories:

The board of Norwegian Animation Forum will also hand out the festivals Lifetime Achievement Award.
The trophy
The Golden Gunnar-trophy is designed by the Norwegian animator Piotr Sapegin, inspired by animation expert and enthusiast, Gunnar Strøm.
The members of our international jury will be announced medio October 2009.
