Join Our Children’s Jury!
Do you know a child who loves animation and wants to be part of something special?
Fredrikstad Animation Festival is looking for 6 enthusiastic children, ages 6–9 to join our Children’s Jury! As a jury member, you’ll watch a selection of animated films and help choose the best one!
The festival takes place from October 23rd to 26th, and the jury work will be on October 23rd and 25th at Fredrikstad Kino. To sign up, send the child’s name, age, and a contact phone number to [email protected] by Friday, September 26th. Jury participants will be selected by lottery among all applicants.
A Festival Program Packed with Creativity and Learning
On Saturday, October 25th, the festival opens its doors to culture schools for a day filled with discovery. Here are some highlights:
Nordic-Baltic Children’s Film Screening
11:00 AM – 12:30 PM | Fredrikstad Kino
Nine unique animated films compete for the title of Best Nordic-Baltic Children’s Film. The program offers a mix of traditional storytelling and surprising, creative approaches to animation. After the screening, there will be a Q&A session where kids can ask questions and learn more about the films. Age limit: 6+. Get tickets here
Wall Animation Workshop
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Fredrikstad Kino
The media workshop E6 invites everyone to an open wall animation workshop in the foyer. Kids and teens can create their own animations, guided by professional instructors. A fun and hands-on way to explore the world of animation!
From Book To Animation
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Fredrikstad Library
Fredrikstad Library presents a special session with Jean Michel Boesch, the director of Christmas Comes to Moominvalley. He will share insights into how a beloved book becomes an animated film. Suitable for ages 12+. Get tickets here
Nordic-Baltic Films For Young Audience
3:00 PM – 4:30 PM | Fredrikstad Kino
This competition program is designed for older children and teens. Nine films compete for the audience’s favor, and a special youth jury (ages 12–15) will evaluate them. The program features everything from serious themes to epic adventures and hilarious slapstick comedy. Suitable for ages 12+. Get tickets here
Workshop Film Screening & Award Ceremony
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM | Fredrikstad Kino
During the award ceremony for the children’s and young audience film competitions, workshop films from culture schools will also be screened. Free Screenings for Kindergartens
From Wednesday, October 22nd to Friday, October 24th, the festival offers special screenings for kindergartens, completely free of charge. These screenings are a wonderful opportunity for young children to experience the magic of animation in a fun and educational setting. Save the date for our Family Day on Sunday, October 26th!
This year, we’re transforming Fredrikstad into a playground of creativity and adventure with a special celebration. Expect a day filled with arts and crafts, games, facepainting and activities for the whole family. Plus, keep an eye out for a thrilling treasure hunt around town available all week, culminating in a prize drawing at Family Day. More details about this magical day will be announced later in the month, stay tuned!
